World Premiere of It’s A Wonderful Life at Houston Grand Opera. Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s new opera offers a new telling of the story made famous in the beloved 1946 film by Frank Capra that starred Jimmy Stewart. Conducted by Patrick Summers, directed by Leonard Foglia, designed by Robert Brill with projections by Elaine J. McCarthy and lighting by Brian Nason. The cast includes tenor William Burden (George Bailey), soprano Talise Trevigne (Clara, the Angel), soprano Andrea Carroll (Mary Bailey), tenor Anthony Dean Griffey (Uncle Billy), baritone Rod Gilfry (Mr Gowers/Mr Potter), and baritone Joshua Hopkins (Harry Bailey). Commissioned by Houston Grand Opera and performed in the Cullen Theater.
