Liaisons: Re-Imagining Sondheim • ECM 2015
Pianist Anthony De Mare commissioned 36 composers, including Jake Heggie, to re-imagine beloved Sondheim tunes for the piano. Jake’s contribution is a virtuosic, Lisztian take on “A Weekend in the Country” (from A Little Night Music) titled “I’m Excited. No, You’re Not.” The collection features arrangements by a wide range of composers that includes William Bolcom, Fred Hersch, Wynton Marsalis, and Duncan Sheik to name a few.
